The Archdeaconry of Hastings was part of the Diocese of Chichester and was created on the 24 June 1912.[1] The Diocese of Chichester almost exactly covers the counties of East and West Sussex and the City of Brighton and Hove, stretching for nearly a hundred miles (160 km) along the south coast of England.[2]
The Archdeaconry of Hastings was merged with the Archdeaconry of Lewes in 1975 during the time of Bishop Kemp.[3] The diocese currently has three archdeaconries, namely the Archdeaconry of Horsham, the Archdeaconry of Chichester as well as the Archdeaconry of Lewes & Hastings.[2]
There follows a list of the archdeacons of Hastings.[4]
Hastings merged with Lewes to create the Archdeaconry of Lewes & Hastings in 1975.[3]
